Empowering Student Voices: Three Creative Ideas for Incorporating Pupil Voice Ideas
Think about who's voice is important in your school. It’s everyone, right? So think about how we can encourage everyone in the school community to know their voice is important, and reach out to pupils in different ways. It’s important to provide opportunities for quieter, less confident or typically marginalised groups to share their experiences and perspectives.
Get class meetings going, this helps students to reach out to the whole school community on a range of topics, such as teaching and learning, student support services, and extracurricular activities. This will give students a voice in decision-making and provide valuable insights for school leaders!
Set up a Smart School Council progress board: Create a visual display that tracks the progress of the school council's initiatives and projects. This will help students to see the impact of their work and keep them motivated to continue working on issues that matter to them. See our blog to download!
Create a student-led conference: Give students the opportunity to organse and run a conference focused on a topic they care about, such as mental health or climate change. This will allow students to share their ideas with others and promote student voice on a broader scale.
